In preparation for this citywide community event happening April 22nd – 28th, the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) and its partners are asking that all interested groups seeking support with supplies and/or litter disposal submit all information no later than April 10th at noon to from 5:30 – 6:30 PM at the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
“Richard James loved this city and he held a vision for people to come together to make it a better place. He organized a cleanup event last spring, and we want to honor him by calling this the ‘Richard James Memorial City Cleanup,’” said Alice Trowbridge, SGP project coordinator.
The cleanup event is an opportunity for the citizens to give back during the week of Earth Day and positively impact their community and local environment.
Partners across the city will be hosting events to collect litter. These partners include Penn College, Lycoming College, UPMC Susquehanna, The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership and Heart of Williamsport (HOW) team, Larson Design Group, Newberry Community Partnership, Cleanscapes, Stevens School Neighbors, Justice Works Youth Care, the Beloved Community Council, New Covenant UCC, Pajama Factory, PennDOT, and Staiman Recycling.

Community members are encouraged to join one of these efforts or gather a group and host their own neighborhood cleanup. Registered groups will receive trash bags, safety vests, gloves, and training on how to conduct their event, as well as assi stance with coordination and litter disposal.
